Ms. Mena states:
I studied at Florida International University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I also studied at Trinity International University in Kendall, Florida, earning a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling. I have been practicing as a mental health professional for two years in Miami, FL. My work has included working with clients with Anxiety, Depression, Stress Management, Sexual Trauma, PTSD, Grief, OCD, and Adjustment Disorder. During my time working I learned to implement the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical behavior therapy, Mindfulness Training, and Trauma-Focused approaches. Included in my work has been increasing support and awareness with children, adolescents, and adults to challenge their thoughts, identify their emotions, and express themselves in a healthy manner. I am currently providing a variety of therapy services in English and Spanish for various ages and populations, including Children, Adolescents, and Adults.
As a Mental health professional, I enjoy working with children and adolescents helping them find their true selves and bringing out their potential as they learn and implement coping skills in creative healthy ways. My approach to therapy includes using client-centered strategies to focus on the client’s needs in a holistic manner. A key component of my client-centered focus is the therapeutic alliance/relationship which creates an atmosphere of compassion, empathy, trust, and honesty.
It can take some time to see growth and healing from the past to reach the future and although therapy can be difficult, it is a road worth taking to reach your true healing. I believe this should be a road you should not have to travel alone. Therefore, I include compassion, empathy, trust, and honesty with every client. Not only does it bring warmth into the therapy session, but it also demonstrates that I care about the person as a whole. My philosophy is, as people, we all have different walks of life and journeys. It is up to us to decide on which road to take and which tools we take along the way. My goal is to help you make the most of the tools you have so you can continue on your journey in a healthy manner.
